  31. Subject: Best Antenna Modeling Software??

  33. I am interested in getting some feedback from users of popular antenna
  34. modeling software.  I am interested in modeling wire antennas and phased
  35. arrays on the HF bands.  I am NOT interested in modeling Yagis.  What are
  36. the differences between popular software such as ELNEC and Antenna
  37. Optimizer (AO)??  Do both of these packages accurately model antennas over
  38. "real ground" as well as free space??
  39.  
  40. Do both packages accurately model things like elevated radial systems a
  41. few feet above ground??  Or how about low horizontal antennas such as a 40
  42. or 80M "cloudwarmer"?
  43.  
  44. How do these two packages differ regarding their ease of use??
  45.  
  46. What type of modeling software are you using out there??
  47.  
  48. Are there any others worth looking at??
  49.  
  50. Finally, does anyone know of any mail-reflectors or Usenet forums that
  51. discuss these topics??

  61. For the higher frequencies (5.7, 10GHz) you can use a slotted
  62. waveguide antenna. These are horizontally polarised, omnidirectional
  63. and have significant gain (6-9 dB - depends on size). These are 
  64. often used for beacons on 10GHz.

  79. I've used for quite a while a 5/8 mag mount 2 mtr mobile antenna.Since
  80. I dont have a balcony,it sat on the window ledge.I'm also in a high
  81. location,it worked perfeclty for a couple years,till I found an older
  82. Ringo antenna at a hamfest for 5 bucks :-).Its now sitting against my
  83. window and coverage is excellent.
